ITB: Eagles Must Take Advantage of Matchups in Second Commanders Meeting
The 6-1 Philadelphia Eagles will take on the division rival Washington Commanders, who surprisingly gave them fits in their previous meeting.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher identified the key matchups and gave their final score predictions for the Week 8 matchup.
Sam Howell
Adam Caplan: “He has a real problem with stepping into sacks because he is smaller and is trying to create space to throw. You can’t blame their offensive line for everything, Howell is taking too many sacks.”
A.J. Brown
Caplan: “I don’t remember them running double coverage to A.J. Brown [in the first matchup]. They are a match team, but didn’t try to help Emmanuel Forbes. Brown just embarrassed them. I am so interested to see what they will do to try to slow him down this week. They can’t go back to Forbes.”
Mosher: “If he has another 125 yard game, he will be the first player in NFL history to have it in six straight games.”
Dallas Goedert
Geoff Mosher: “You would think that this would be a game again to get the ball to Dallas Goedert. You know they are going to give you yards on the edges and over the middle. They will probably be aggressive at times, just like the Dolphins were very aggressive. Darren Waller just had 99 yards against them last week and the Commanders have given up a touchdown to a tight end in three straight weeks.”
Eagles Offensive Line
Mosher: “I have my eye on this Eagles offensive line. The way the season started when they ran against Minnesota and were really getting their run game going, things have changed a little bit. I don’t know if it feels this way to you, but I feel like they are not as RPO centric as they were last year. I wonder if that has led to a difference in performance.”
Final Score Prediction
Caplan: “I am mister under, so I am going Eagles 24, Commanders 17.”
Mosher: “I think it is a lower scoring game as well, I am going to pick the Eagles to win it, but I have it 23-13.”
