Eagles Ink Beloved Tackle to Big Extension
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to reward their elite offensive line with top of the market deals.
Left tackle Jordan Mailata and the team have agreed to a three-year extension, per Adam Caplan.
Reporting for @pfn365: #Eagles and starting LT Jordan Mailata have agreed to a 3-year, $66m extension ($22m apy) with $48m gtd, source said.
The $22m average per season makes him the 4th highest paid OT in the #NFL.
Mailata was selected in the 7th rd of the 2018 draft.

The deal keeps the 27-year-old with the Eagles organization through 2028.
It is his second major contract extension with the team, first receiving a four-year, $64 million deal prior to the 2021 season. Since then, Mailata’s game has only improved to become one of the top tackles in the NFL.
In one of the more unique success stories the league has recently seen, Mailata was a seventh-round project selected in the 2018 NFL draft. Coming from New South Wales, Australia, he had never played a down of American football, instead spending his prior athletic career as a Rugby player.
But the Eagles took a chance on his massive size and strength at 6’8 and 365 pounds. Under the guidance of legendary offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and learning under future Hall-of-Famers Jason Peters and Lane Johnson, Mailata was ready to step in by year three, showing promise at the left tackle spot.
Mailata and Johnson have formed one of the best tackle duos in the NFL in both pass protection and the run game over the past three seasons.
Now, he becomes the second lineman the Eagles have locked up this offseason, joining left guard Landon Dickerson and his record-setting extension.
