Return Ready?
ITB: What Roles of Isaiah Rodgers, Devin White May Look Like Upon Return
The 1-0 Philadelphia Eagles are enjoying some rest and recovery time before they take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher provided a midweek update on the Eagles and gave an early preview of Monday night’s matchup.
Isaiah Rodgers
Adam Caplan: “I’ll be interested to see once he gets cleared what his role is. The way they did it in training camp was in base it was (Darius) Slay and (Quinyon) Mitchell and then when they went to nickel, Rodgers went outside and Mitchell went inside.”
Geoff Mosher: “We’re all thinking the same thing Vic Fangio is thinking: Avonte Maddox did not play very well and might be a liability for you out there. Do you play Rodgers on the outside and move Mitchell to the nickel?”
Devin White
Caplan: “Whenever White gets cleared, it’ll be fascinating to see do they keep (Nakobe) Dean there? You would think they would, but we don’t know yet. We know one guy who’s not coming out is Zack Baun.”
Nick Gates/E.J. Jenkins
Mosher: “Nick Gates and E.J. Jenkins were elevated for the Packers game. Every player in the regular season has a maximum of three elevations, so the team can only elevate Gates and Jenkins two more times before they have to make a decision to sign them to the 53 or not. You would think Gates especially would be elevated again, he’s the only true backup who can snap the ball.”
Kirk Cousins
Mosher: “You’re seeing Kirk Cousins in the shotgun now in the Shanahan-style offense a lot, and when he was in Minnesota he was under center quite a bit. You wonder if that’s going to be a really difficult transition for him or if it was just a Week 1 thing.”
Caplan: “Atlanta is dangerous if they can protect Cousins. You don’t want this to be a Kirk Cousins game where he goes off, he’s always capable.”
Falcons Defense
Caplan: “Raheem (Morris) is really creative. I was really surprised at how well [the Los Angeles Rams] did last year, they weren’t very good at corner but they overachieved.”
