ITB Postgame Live: Eagles Put on Historic Super Bowl Performance

by

The Philadelphia Eagles cruised to their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history, avenging a heartbreak from two seasons ago.

On the final 2024 season edition of “Inside The Birds Postgame Live,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher reacted to the 40-22 beatdown of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Initial Thoughts

Adam Caplan: “It was an absolute annihilation. That was my feeling throughout the game. Not only did the Chiefs never lead, it was kind of like ‘is there a mercy rule?’”

Geoff Mosher: “It was a total domination. The only thing that this validated is that the Eagles had the better 53-man roster. The Chiefs have had an unbelievable ability because of their quarterback, their head coach, their defensive coordinator, their personnel, to overachieve and play above their talent level, but this was the best Eagles 53 that they have ever put together. Everything they did, they did with almost perfection, especially defensively.”

Defensive Line

Mosher: “Vic (Fanigo) didn’t have to blitz. We wondered if Vic was going to have to blitz because the Kansas City Chiefs can pick apart a zone, he didn’t have to. Milton Williams took care of it, Josh Sweat took care of it, the pressure took care of it.”

Eagles Offense

Mosher: “I liked the rhythm of the offense. I’m especially impressed that it had a rhythm without an impactful run game and a typical Saquon Barkley 40 or 50-yarder.”

Howie Roseman

Caplan: “Howie is the best general manager in the National Football League. Even someone who is not a fan of Howie from another team texted me and goes ‘I’m not a fan of his, but dude they’re really good.’ That’s a show of respect.”

Jalen Hurts

Mosher: “Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP, which is a remarkable achievement given everything that this kid been through from getting benched in the national championship game, having to transfer to Oklahoma, then coming into the NFL as a second round pick. Just an amazing thing for his career.”
