Chip To Ohio State
Ohio State Hires Former Eagles HC Chip Kelly
A former Philadelphia Eagles head coach is on the move.
UCLA Head Coach Chip Kelly, formerly with the Eagles from 2013-15, is set to leave the school to join Ohio State as their offensive coordinator, per The Athletic.
BREAKING: UCLA’s Chip Kelly is expected to become the new OC at Ohio State, per source. Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day played for Kelly at UNH and later coached with him at three stops. https://t.co/PDDOB76rDq

Kelly, who makes the unusual move of taking a downgraded title at a school that is now in the same conference (Big Ten), was considered a front runner for the Seattle Seahawks OC job. It would have been his first NFL gig since his firing from the Eagles.
Instead, the 60-year-old reunites with Ryan Day, Ohio State’s head coach since 2019. In 2015, the infamous season in which Kelly had complete personnel control of the Eagles’ roster, Day served as the team’s quarterbacks coach.
The two go back multiple decades to New Hampshire, where Kelly was the offensive coordinator for the starting quarterback Day.
It is the latest twist in a wild coaching carousel that has affected both college and the NFL. Less than a month ago, the Buckeyes had hired Bill O’Brien who was without a job following the Patriots parting ways with the legendary Bill Belichick. Soon after, the Green Bay Packers hired Boston College Head Coach Jeff Hafley to be their new defensive coordinator. Boston College then quickly moved to hire O’Brien as their new man at the helm of the program.
