Doubtful Dallas

Birds TE Appears Practices But Doubtful Vs. 49ers; LB Cunningham Out

PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles on Friday received a significant boost to its offensive weaponry at practice, as tight end Dallas Goedert was spotted donning a helmet as players underwent warmups in the portion open to media.

GETTY IMAGES: Eagles TE Dallas Goedert is back at practice after missing two games.

While it remains to be seen if Goedert, who has missed the past two games, suits up for Sunday’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers at the Linc, his practice involvement at least hints toward an imminent return.

The Eagles listed Goedert, who underwent a surgical procedure after sustaining a forearm fracture back in Week 9 against Dallas, as doubtful to play. It’s possible he could be upgraded the before 4 p.m. Saturday deadline.

Also on the injury report, linebacker Zach Cunningham was listed as out, as expected, with a hamstring injury. Christian Elliss is expected to replace him.

Veteran safety Justin Evans, who was in his third week of the 21-day practice window, didn’t practice all week and is out for the seventh straight game. Unable to get through the 21-day window, his season is over and he will be placed on injured reserve to open another roster spot.

Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who is dealing with an ankle injury, didn’t practice all week but is listed as questionable, a rarity for an NFL player but not for a veteran with Cox’s resume.

Tight end Grant Calcaterra (ankle) was limited Friday and is also listed as questionable after missing Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Nobody else carries a game status designation, meaning all other Eagles are expected to play.

As for Goedert, if he doesn’t play against the Niners, he’s more likely to return the following Sunday on the road against the Dallas Cowboys.
