Eagles Week 9 Injury Report
Key Eagles Players Face Uncertainty Ahead of Sunday Afternoon's NFC East Showdown Tilt With New York
PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles (2-6) continue their run through the NFC East, hosting the New York Giants (4-2-1) Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles will look to snap a six-game losing streak, but will reportedly do so with a different starting quarterback. According to a report from ESPN, third-year pro Joe Milton will replace Tanner McKee as the team’s signal caller.
Perhaps the insertion of Milton jumpstarts what has been a lethargic offense that could be without a handful of key contributors. As for the defense, coordinator Vic Fangio’s unit enters the week mostly healthy. A bounce-back showing could help propel the Eagles back in the win column going into the bye week.
Below you’ll find the weekly injury report tracker, updated throughout the week.
Wednesday, Nov. 4

No practice on Wednesday (again) for a trio of offensive standouts in Barkley, Smith and Wicks. Remember, last week Barkley was sidelined Wednesday and Thursday, but returned for Friday’s practice. His status will most certainly be one worth monitoring. As for Smith and Wicks, their respective injuries and how things have trended could necessitate another week of rest — coupled with the looming bye week — to maximize the recovery time. When it comes to that front, we’ll learn more as the week develops.
WR/PR Covey suffered his knee injury on “Monday Night Football” against the Dallas Cowboys. DB Cooper DeJean filled in for Covey at punt returner last week, returning one 12 yards.
The newly listed limited participant is Elliott, who popped up with a right ankle injury. It’s early in the week, but Elliott’s injury is a notable one to watch.
If you’re in search of some positives, the fact that Dickerson (who last week navigated a pectoral injury that didn’t impact his practice status) and Goedert didn’t experience any setbacks coming off Sunday night’s game is encouraging. The hip injury for Dickerson, however, is a new one.
