Birds Sign Kicker, Activate Dillard Into Practice Window
The Eagles on Wednesday made moves that could hint about their injury situation for Sunday’s road game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The team signed free-agent kicker Cameron Dicker to fill the last void on their practice squad and activated offensive tackle Andre Dillard into the 21-day practice window from injured reserve.
Dicker will be the Eagles’ kicker against Arizona if Jake Elliott isn’t ready. Elliott sustained a leg injury in Sunday’s 29-21 win over the Jaguars when he was run into while attempting a field goal.
Although Eagles special teams coordinator Michael Clay on Tuesday didn’t rule Elliott out against the Cardinals, Inside The Birds’ Adam Caplan said on Wednesday’s ITB pod that his “sense is that [Dicker] will be the kicker” against Arizona.
The Eagles would have to elevate Dicker from the practice squad by 4 p.m. Saturday to make him available to play.
Dillard, who sustained a broken arm in practice about a week before the season opener, could also be activated to the 53 before the game. The Eagles lost left tackle Jordan Mailata early against the Jaguars with a shoulder injury.
Per ITB’s Geoff Mosher, Mailata’s MRI came back clean but will be a game-time decision against the Cardinals. If the Eagles activate Dillard, they will have to make a corresponding cut to clear space.
