ITB: New Eagles Offense Shows Promise in Week 1
Despite ups and downs, the Philadelphia Eagles came away with a 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers to kick off the 2024 season.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher provided intel from Week 1’s victory.
Kellen Moore
Geoff Mosher: “Kellen Moore’s offense came as advertised with motion, misdirection, formation diversity…those things that we talked about from May to September came to fruition, and that was just Week 1 so the Eagles can continue to build off that.”
Jalen Hurts
Adam Caplan: “Hurts’ numbers were phenomenal with presnap motion: 15-for-21, 212 [yards] and two touchdowns, via Next Gen Stats, and without it: 5-for-13 and 2 picks. So obviously he is comfortable with it.”
Saquon Barkley
Mosher: “If you look at the overall picture, there were some really explosive runs in there which is what he was always known for…but if you go look at his runs in the fourth quarter, he was really struggling to break something there in the last seven minutes of the game where they were using him. I wonder if that’s an element that can be worked on or if that’s just what the package is for Saquon Barkley.”
Caplan: “It’s just such a rare combination of size and explosion, you just don’t see that. His ability to squeeze the hole is fascinating at his size.”
Zack Baun
Mosher: “I talked to someone who saw the tape, knows the team well and was skeptical of whether Zack Baun could really play the position and he was impressed with Baun’s ability. It was nice to see.”
Caplan: “Zone drops were good. The thing that was so impressive for a guy who is so new to the position and has never played it before, his ability to diagnose quickly and go forward and impact so many plays was really incredible.”
