ITB: Bargain Contracts for New Members of Offense

by

The Philadelphia Eagles went cheap on offense this offseason in order to pay for their superstars.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher gave intel on new contracts acquired on the offensive side of the ball.

AJ Dillon

Adam Caplan: “He is going there to compete for a role, the contract will tell you this. He signed a one-year deal with the Eagles worth roughly $1.38 million. Of that money, just 167,500 is fully guaranteed at signing. It’s simply because he didn’t play last season.”

Geoff Mosher: “He dealt last year with [neck] stingers. If there’s a lesson we learned from Jordan Howard, those can recur very quickly and very easily. You hope that they’re behind him.”

Kylen Granson

Caplan: “He gets $1.75 million; that’s the total contract in cash. The full guarantee in signing is $1 million…based on the money, he’s not guaranteed to make it.”

Mosher: “I do know the Eagles also had a four[th round grade] on him coming out of SMU. That’s not a nothing pick.”

Kenyon Green

Caplan: “They’re not going to pick up [the fifth-year option]. He was the 15th pick overall in the ’22 draft.”

Mosher: “He’s very likely to make the team, but if the Eagles draft a guard really high and then you have that guy, Steen, and you felt pretty stocked at one, two and didn’t want to pay that money for a number three right guard, then I could see a situation where maybe they can move on.”

Kendall Lamm

Caplan: “Lamm got one year at $1.5 million, they fully guaranteed half of it at signing. It’s not enough for him to make the team, but they signed him to be the swing tackle…It also depends on what they do in the draft.”

Mosher: “If he makes the team and plays decently, that contract is a bargain.”
