‘Enigmatic, Inconsistent’

It’s time for the Philadelphia Eagles to lock in before they take on the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher talked about recent developments surrounding the team ahead of their matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Nicholas Morrow

Geoff Mosher: “He knows the scheme, knows the team, started 12 games for the Eagles last year, can play special teams. So he’s on the practice squad to give them depth, very likely to be an elevation.”

Mosher: “Left knee, that is a concern. I was looking for answers in watching the All-22. I don’t think you see the same explosion when he does get popped downfield every once in a while, and you’re not seeing him used in certain looks down the field. If anything, it looks like DeVonta Smith is now the guy they use more on the deeper routes and they use A.J. Brown for your quick comebacks, your stop routes, your sit routes.”

Adam Caplan: “It’s something I would tell folks who are going to the game Sunday to watch A.J.”

Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Mosher: “Vic Fangio was asked if he would consider playing Jeremiah Trotter Jr. Not only did he say he would consider it, but he also almost forecasted that it was likely that those two guys between Trotter Jr. and Oren Burks would be used in a platoon role.”

Adam Caplan: “The future is now, as Vic said. Let’s see what Trott Jr. is capable of doing, we know that they’re very happy with him, but there’s a saying in coaching, you don’t really know until you get there.”

Eagles Passing Game

Mosher: “It’s very possible that they snap out of it and come into this Rams game throwing the ball and connecting and figure it out, but I can’t just figure out for the life of me why, 18 weeks into a season, they are still so enigmatic, so inconsistent.”

Caplan: “This is not what anyone wants to see, a pass game where you have no idea what you’re getting, but the thing about Hurts is he wins and he always seems to rally.”
