ITB: Eagles Blowout Cowboys, Take Division Lead
The Philadelphia Eagles overcame a sluggish start to comfortably beat the Dallas Cowboys for their fifth straight victory, placing themselves in the top spot of the NFC East.
On the Week 10 edition of “Inside The Birds Postgame Live,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher reacted to the team’s 34-6 win.
Jalen Hurts
Adam Caplan: “He kept looking down, staying inside and trying not to run early. They had five sacks they gave up early, but then he settled down, hit some passes, they protected him and got the job done in the end. Hurts had four touchdowns, pretty good. He did have two turnovers, but overall they moved the football when they needed to, made some plays. He also made some superhuman plays.”
Geoff Mosher: “He did have some good runs, he had some great throws too. He was shaking off what the Cowboys were doing early on. I also think the sun spots on a certain part of the field impacted both quarterbacks.”
Jahan Dotson
Caplan: “Jahan Dotson again on a big play, that’s two weeks in a row with a great play for him.”
Mosher: “When you throw a back shoulder to a guy, that’s a trust throw. For as long as we have talked about Jalen not trusting this guy and then last week Dotson makes an unbelievable catch and then to throw him a back shoulder [this week] shows that he trusts him. It’s nice to see the trust forming…these guys aren’t going to play vital roles as far as volume, but every once in a while they are going to be called upon in a situation to catch a ball that’s important.”
Zack Baun
Mosher: “Zack Baun again played really well. He had two forced fumbles, including the one that caused Zeke [Ezekiel] Elliot to fumble out of the end zone, which was a pivotal play…he has really gotten better as the weeks have gone on.”
Caplan: “Key and diagnose, he is the epitome of that, that should be his nickname. He is unbelievable. This is one of Howie (Roseman’s) best linebacker signings of his career…Baun is at another level, he is doing everything. He is going to make $3.5 million this season, he is playing at a $12-14 million level.”
Jalen Carter
Mosher: “He was very disruptive. We were talking about if he can play more games like that Saints game. The way that the Dallas offense was, you weren’t going to get that kind of game, but he got some hand on some balls at the line of scrimmage, he had some big run stops, a couple of pressures that were important. He did what he was supposed to do in that game.”
Caplan: “He is more consistent, not the flash player.”
