ITB: How Eagles Stack Up Coming Off a Bye Week Against Browns

by

The 2-2 Philadelphia Eagles are set to look a bit different coming back from the bye week.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Andrew DiCecco previewed the upcoming matchup against the Cleveland Browns and potential changes for the team going forward.

Cooper DeJean

Ainias Smith

Andrew DiCecco: “I had a chance to talk to him two days ago. He said it’s showtime, he got the information that the window was opening for him as we was driving into the Novacare complex on Monday. This is someone who having that time off, that five weeks to collect yourself and collect, allowed him to get stronger, faster, understand what defenses are doing presnap.”

Caplan: “Right now, they only have four receivers on the active 53. You can’t go into the game with four receivers. Could it be Ainias Smith activated to the roster?”

Jalen Carter

DiCecco: “This is setting up to be a very big Jalen Carter game, and it has to be, coming off an uneven performance against the Buccaneers, but his performance against the Saints was one of the best defensive tackle performances I have seen in quite some time. He was affecting almost every play, disrupting the line of scrimmage, resetting it, and really imposing his will. If the Eagles are able to get that version of Jalen Carter on Sunday, it’s going to open things up for the pass rushers on the edge to really get home.”

Myles Garrett

Caplan: “Myles Garett is playing with an achilles ankle problem. He is just not himself. It’s a big reason why Jim Schwartz has all of a sudden become a blitzer.”

Deshaun Watson

DiCecco: “Offensively, they are abysmal and it all starts with the quarterback. He’s averaging 170 yards passing a game, making very poor decisions, and he’s not playing with a lot of confidence. He has obviously regressed every single season since 2020.”

Cooper DeJean

DiCecco: “It makes a lot of sense to get the startup costs out of the way. You know you’re going to rely on Cooper DeJean, you know he’s going to be a centerpiece for the secondary of the future. So if you’re the Eagles and Vic Fangio, it makes a lot of sense to either give him the starting spot outright or have him supplement with Avonte Maddox and eat into his snap share.”

Caplan: “He has three inches on Maddox, he’s younger, he’s over his injury problems.”
