Giant QB Need

ITB: Do New York Giants Need Aaron Rodgers to Compete in NFC East?

The fate of a Philadelphia Eagles’ NFC East rival in 2025 will rest solely on the quarterback situation.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan took a look at the current state of the New York Giants.

Quarterback

Geoff Mosher: “Right now without a quarterback, they seem like a little bit of a rudderless ship offensively and just in general because they just don’t have the Jayden Daniels or that cornerstone player that you hang your hat on, other than Malik Nabers, who needs a quarterback.”

Adam Caplan: “They have a major issue at quarterback. Even if Aaron Rodgers signs there, that’s not going to stop them from drafting a quarterback high. Rodgers is a stopgap at best.”

Offensive Line

Caplan: “If they can protect, that includes Andrew Thomas playing at least close to a full season. They also need to make a decision, is (Jermaine) Eluemunor going to stay at right tackle? John Michael-Schmitz is back at center and (Jon) Runyan Jr. is back from his injury. They have some depth, not a lot.”

Mosher: “There are some analytical data out there that shows that the Giants’ offensive line was much better in the six games that Andrew Thomas played than it was than he wasn’t. There is a general consensus that even with Thomas at left tackle, the Giants’ offensive line stunk last year, it did not, it was serviceable and there were times where it was actually pretty decent.”

Secondary

Mosher: “You look at this secondary with Jevon Holland joining Tyler Nubin and then Paulson Adebo paired with Deonte Banks, you add that to what they have up front, I feel like this is where they can hang their hat as long as they can be somewhat functional offensively.”

Defensive Front Seven

Caplan: “Brian Burns had an up-and-down year but when he was good, he was really good. (Bobby) Okereke, a lot of coaches around the league like, a lot of personnel people have a high respect for him. Micah McFadden has put together some good tape. An underrated signing is Chauncey Golston. He’ll be that first guy off the bench. Roy Robertson-Harris has been around a long time, that’s a very underrated signing.”
