Ready for Repeat?
ITB: Players Key to Division Title Repeat
The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are in position to become the first repeat NFC East champions since 2004 as long as the new faces step up.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” legendary NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell joined Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher to look at the Eagles in the final part of the NFC East preview.

Jalen Hurts
Greg Cosell: “I don’t think you’re going to see a dramatic change in how they play because I don’t think they can make a dramatic change in how they play. Jalen Hurts is one of those quarterbacks that has really defined strengths and a couple of limitations that everybody knows that are not likely to change at this point in his career…It’s pretty remarkable that in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl, other then checkdowns and the long touchdown to DeVonta Smith, he did not throw one ball between the numbers, which is crazy in the NFL. That’s by design…on the other hand, because he’s in the gun on almost every play, the Hurts run game is such a critical piece of their offense.”
Tyler Steen
Cosell: “Tyler Steen has been up and down in his opportunities up to this point, but now theoretically, he’s the guy. That’s the only position of concern [on offense].”
Ty Robinson
Cosell: “Ty Robinson is a really interesting player. His tape was really good and I bet they’re reshaping his body a bit because on tape he looked like he was a heavy guy. He’s not as good a pass rusher as someone like Braden Fiske, but he plays hard and makes plays. He’s going to get snaps.”
Jalyx Hunt
Cosell: “Jalyx Hunt is a freakish athlete. I’m really curious to see what he does this year. I think he can be a really good player in multiple ways because he can rush the quarterback, with his safety background he can drop into coverage.”
Jihaad Campbell
Cosell: “Campbell is a freakish athlete. He’s not a purely physical player, I think that’s the area he needs to improve…He went to Alabama as a pass rusher, but they had Dallas Turner and Will Anderson so they moved him to stack ‘backer. He can rush the quarterback and he’s good at it. He’s bendy, flexible, he’s an athlete.”
Drew Mukuba
Cosell: “Perfect fit. I don’t know if he’s ready, but Mukuba was drafted to start next to (Reed) Blankenship…He has four years of college experience, was a starter from day one. This kid has instincts, a great feel for what he sees, he reacts fast. He was light at the combine, but I know they have added 10 pounds already. He’s an explosive athlete, he can play on the backend, plays downhill with conviction, he will hit you. He’s a perfect quarters safety.”
