Report: Goedert, Birds Reach Agreement To Stay

by

The Eagles and tight end Dallas Goedert have agreed to a reworked contract, keeping the 30-year-old in Philadelphia for at least the 2025 season, according to a report from The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane.

Goedert, according to the report, had options to leave, but worked with the Eagles to land on a figure that worked for both sides.

The numbers on the reworked deal for Goedert, who was slated to make $14 million in cash in 2025, now amount to $10 million in cash in addition to earning up to $1 million in incentives.

It’s been an offseason of maintenance for the Eagles, as the team has been calculated with its cash allocation, ensuring they could build around its young nucleus and remain a formidable force for the foreseeable future.

Complicating matters throughout the offseason was that at every turn, whether it be Nick Sirianni, Howie Roseman or Jeffrey Lurie speaking on the subject, it felt all but certain the team was prepared to move forward without Goedert.

But the NFL Draft came and went without the Eagles addressing the perceived need, suggesting conversations between both sides were trending in a positive direction. The further the offseason advanced, the more it appeared Goedert was primed to return.

Now?

The Eagles have locked in a crucial component to both the passing game and running game and, perhaps most importantly, a dependable security blanket for Jalen Hurts.

It’s worth reiterating that Goedert sits atop a crowded tight end depth chart which also includes Grant Calcaterra, Harrison Bryant, Kylen Granson and E.J. Jenkins.
