Eagles Officially Ink OC

Birds Announce Kellen More Hiring

by

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday he’s “thrilled” to have Kellen Moore as his new offensive coordinator and noted Moore’s track record of quarterback development.

The team made the hiring official, releasing a statement from Sirianni on the former Cowboys and Chargers offensive coordinator who’s being brought to Philadelphia to help resurrect an offense that struggled over the last month of the season.

“As an accomplished offensive coordinator, a former NFL player, and a Heisman finalist, Kellen has shown a tremendous ability to lead at every level of the sport while gaining the trust and respect of his players and teammates,” Sirianni said of Moore, a former Boise State quarterback who played one NFL season with Dallas in 2015.

“He’s an incredibly smart football coach whose depth of knowledge of the game has helped him become a talented play caller in this league. During Kellen’s tenure as an NFL coach, he has helped to develop some of the best quarterbacks in the league and directed some of its best offenses.”

Moore spent 2023 as Chargers offensive coordinator under head coach Brandon Staley, who was fired before the end of the season. Before his stint with Los Angeles, Moore spent 2019-2022 as Cowboys offensive coordinator, presiding over two top-ranked offenses (2019, 2021) and helping Dak Prescott emerge into one of the league’s top quarterbacks.

The Eagles fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson after one season and interviewed, among others, former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury for the offensive coordinator position before hiring Moore.

Kingsbury, whose initial interview with the Eagles went well, recently was named offensive coordinator of the Eagles’ NFC East rivals, the Washington Commanders.

The Eagles are expected to announce the hiring of quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier, who has coached under Moore in Dallas and Los Angeles, to replace Alex Tanney and work closely with Jalen Hurts.
