Behind Barkley
ITB: RB Depth Chart
The Philadelphia Eagles are set with their starting running back for 2026, but is there enough behind him for now and the future?
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher broke down the running back room.

Saquon Barkley
Adam Caplan: “Saquon is signed through ’28. He is now 29 years old. Running backs in their 30s, you definitely don’t want to be in that business.”
Geoff Mosher: “Barkley is a really good running back who has the extra gear and is big and strong. But when the hole isn’t there initially, he does do that side-to-side lateral movement.”
Tank Bigsby
Mosher: “Bigbsy is a better runner with the football right now than (Will) Shipley. He’s a more decisive runner, he hits the hole very hard, breaks contact really well. The guy averaged six yards per-carry last year for the Eagles.”
Dameon Pierce
Caplan: “His career after a really good season has nosedived…they guaranteed a little bit of money. For him to be on the roster this season, he has to have an unbelievable training camp plus you need injuries.”
Mosher: “You cannot keep four running backs, especially if that fourth guy is your Rashaad Penny/AJ Dillon collecting dust.”
Will Shipley
Caplan: “This will be year three for him. Will he finally get a shot to be a quasi-third down back? Can he have a chance to do what we saw in training camp? He has good hands, he’s explosive, lower body is not as big as you’d like, he’s not as strong, but he has juice and he can catch the ball.”
Mosher: “He had more yards on one carry in the playoffs two years ago then he did all of last year combined…He only had nine catches.”
