Standing Out

ITB: Camp Takeaways

by

Plenty of Philadelphia Eagles players stood out across the first few practices of training camp.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Andrew DiCecco recapped the first week of camp.

Jalyx Hunt

Jalen Hurts

Andrew DiCecco: “I thought Jalen Hurts made some of his better throws out of under center and play action passes. It’s going to be a work in progress, but I did see some things that I liked. He’s taking more chances than I can remember. We’ll see if that carries over into the regular season, but he’s willing to throw the ball into tight windows which is going to be imperative of a West Coast offense.”

Britain Covey

Adam Caplan: “If he makes it, he’s not going to see much time if he plays at all on offense, but Britain Covey had a number of catches in Thursday’s practice…Covey has good quicks for a small guy, the key here is what can he provide other than punt returns?”

DiCecco: “Britain’s a hard worker. Every summer that he has been in Philadelphia, he flashes here and there with some receptions. He does have really good short area quickness.”

Offensive Line

DiCecco: “The angles are something that you’re going to notice right away. It should alleviate some pressure from them relative to the grueling nature that they adopted under Jeff Stoutland for many years.”

Jalyx Hunt

Caplan: “From when I’ve been there and what I’ve been told, Jalyx Hunt has been great.”

DiCecco: “From the first practice to where we are going into Day 4, he has thrived throughout. You see the first-step quickness, the refined approach when it comes to pass rush, he seems to have a better understanding of how to defeat offensive tackles.”
