Dallas Destroyed
Q&A: Biggest Takeaways from Fifth Straight Victory
The Philadelphia Eagles delivered a beatdown to their NFC East foe Dallas Cowboys and have a quick turnaround to take on another divisional rival.
On the latest edition of “Q&A” on “Inside The Birds,” former Eagles standouts Jason Avant and Quintin Mikell reacted to the 34-6 win and looked ahead to the Thursday night matchup against the Washington Commanders.
Jalen Hurts
Jason Avant: “Jalen got caught up in holding the ball a little bit too long and part of it is that Kellen Moore had long developing plays and wasn’t anticipating the blitz and getting Jalen the checkdown. On a lot of those plays, there wasn’t anyone to outlet the ball to. The offensive line gave Jalen enough time. At least three of those sacks are directly on Hurts, he still had enough time to make a decision to get the ball out of his hands.”
Zack Baun
Avant: “Baun is playing lights out. He is the highest rated linebacker in the past three games on Pro Football Focus by far. He has turned the football over in the last three games, had two forced fumbles this game, had a pick last week, the week before that he had a fumble. He is everywhere.”
Quintin Mikell: “One of the most underrated parts of playing special teams is you learn how to play with your body in weird positions, how to block, how to take on tackles, how to run around and replace. There are so many little intricate things that you do when you’re playing special teams that really transfers over…the way Zack has been playing has been amazing. He is just playing at such a high level, understanding where he has to be, he looks like he’s a leader out there.”
Kellen Moore
Mikell: “The way they did Kellen when he was in Dallas, they were putting up points. It wasn’t his fault and he got scapegoated. I have never really been impressed with Mike McCarthy as a playcaller…This is retribution for Kellen.”
Jayden Daniels
Avant: “The thing that impresses me the most about Jayden is that he protects the ball, gets the ball out of his hands, and is accurate. His ability to deal with pressure and be unrattled has been the most impressive thing about this young dude.”
