ITB: What to Lookout for Sunday Against the Steelers

by

The 11-2 Philadelphia Eagles and their nine-game winning streak will be put to the test when they take on the 10-3 Pittsburgh Steelers.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan updated both teams’ injury situation and previewed the Week 15 matchups to watch.

Jalen Hurts

Geoff Mosher: “To continue to play like that, the last two weeks especially, in the passing game, over a longer period of time, I think he left himself in a weird position. It’s hard to win a lot of games without a top 10, top 12 passing offense.”

Adam Caplan: “We know what he is capable of doing…you can’t play any better than he did in the Super Bowl, so the carrot is there for him to improve.”

DeVonta Smith

Caplan: “DeVonta Smith is off the injury report. That means he came through the game with the lingering hamstring strain and he’s not on the injury report.”

Jake Elliot

Caplan: “It’s all about technique. [Special Teams Assistant] Tyler Brown has to get him righted, he did a phenomenal job when he came in 2021.”

George Pickens

Mosher: “It doesn’t look good for him for the second straight week with the hamstring that has been keeping him sidelined.”

Caplan: “His hamstring tightened up, they didn’t think anything of it…it didn’t get better like they thought it would so they had an MRI and it showed he had a little bit of a strain…this changes the matchup because Pickens is a top 10 receiver.”

Larry Ogunjobi

Caplan: “He did not play in the game two years ago in Philly. He’s okay, he’s not the player he once was with the Browns or Bengals. Ogunjobi has a groin injury, he hasn’t worked this week.”

Steelers’ Offensive Line

Caplan: “I think a lot of people around the league are surprised, they have really improved. I think (Isaac) Seumalo is their most consistent lineman, left guard. Dan Moore, who Steelers fans wanted off the roster, is hanging in there. Zach Frazier when healthy has been phenomenal, and this kid Mason McCormick has come out of nowhere, he wasn’t supposed to play this season and now he’s having to be their starting right guard…the one guy who has been wildly inconsistent is Broderick Jones, their first rounder last year out of Georgia. I cannot wait for this matchup on Sunday because the Eagles defensive line has surprisingly so good.”

Mosher: “Broderick Jones is going to be fairly familiar with the person who’s going to be lining across from him for the most part because as the right tackle, he’s probably going to be seeing a lot of Nolan Smith, his former teammate at Georgia. And then I’m sure he’ll shake hands a couple of times in the middle of the action with Jalen Carter, and Nakobe Dean might blitz an ‘A’ gap.”
