Is The Fix In?
ITB: What Eagles Can Do to Ignite Struggling Passing Game
The 11-2 Philadelphia Eagles are facing major questions following a lackluster offensive performance.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan discussed the current issues plaguing the team as well as potential remedies.

A.J. Brown
Geoff Mosher: “There’s plenty of clips of A.J. and Jalen (Hurts) celebrating, as recently as before the [Panthers] game when they were laughing it up, so they’re not arch enemies. But the part that [Brandon Graham] did not walk back is he said you still have to keep your emotions in check. Brandon Graham knows this, he has been around, seen a lot of football. He knows what happens when you take things out to the media and don’t express yourself the right way and what that does to the city…I believe he is definitely sending a message to A.J. Brown that they’re 10-2 and have won nine games in a row, nobody says you have to love everything about the team. But your body language as one of the leaders of the team was pretty lousy after that game.”
Adam Caplan: “This is not the first time it has been brought up about A.J. since he has been here, but he’s a standup dude. He’s a really good guy behind the scenes, really good teammate. But yes, he’s not perfect, body language has to be better, particularly when you’re a leader, everybody looks up to him.”
Dallas Goedert
Caplan “He can start practicing in Week 18. The thing about that is the game has to mean something. You don’t bring him back if the game doesn’t mean anything. He may not play until the playoffs.”
Bryce Huff
Caplan: “Wrist surgeries are typically six-to-eight weeks, so it would certainly be surprising if he’s back before the end of the regular season. They were hoping to delay anything being done so they decided to do it when they did it to hopefully get him back for the playoffs.”
Jalen Hurts
Mosher: “I didn’t think Jalen Hurts was as bad as the discourse was after the game. What happens is when you’re only throwing 11 passes in the first half and on two of them he just didn’t hit an open receiver, it looks really bad. But a lot of their passing game now is off of RPO and play action because they are running the ball well and it’s hard under center to turn around, fake a handoff, and then try to throw when they’re blitzing.”
Passing Game
Mosher: “Here’s what I imagine Nick Sirianni and Kellen Moore have to deal with: do they continue to limit the playbook, the passing game, make it all RPO and play action and know that they’re predictable and vanilla, but they’re 10-2 and this is the way they have to win the Super Bowl? Or do they have the foresight to say they think they can win a lot of games this way, but they need to open it up a little bit more if they are going to win the Super Bowl.”
Caplan: “Guys have to get the ball in the passing game. A.J. Brown’s an unstoppable player, they have to get him the football.”
