ITB: Would Alexander Signing Help Answer Defensive Questions?
The Philadelphia Eagles defense will rely on different faces to maintain its status as one of the best in the league.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan answered the current biggest questions facing the defensive side of the ball.

Defensive Tackles
Geoff Mosher: “When you look at this year’s team with Milton Williams gone and Moro Ojomo stepping into the role, we can say depth is a question because you can’t rely on everyone always staying healthy.”
Adam Caplan: “For the second straight year, they are the only NFL team that has no vested veterans at defensive tackle.”
Edge Rushers
Mosher: “The ceiling is very high for Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt…but if you go into the reserve tank, Azeez Ojulari is best as a situational player and struggled to stay healthy. You don’t really know what you’re going to get out of Josh Uche.”
Caplan: “I still say they need one more guy…You’re not bringing anyone here to take Smith or Hunt’s job. It can be a developmental player that you like that another team didn’t want or a veteran who’s near the end of his career who is trying to get a ring and accept his role.”
Inside Linebackers
Caplan: “They have a significant numbers issue. They need to add one or two guys by training camp…What you would like is experience.”
Jaire Alexander
Mosher: “He’s really talented, has made two Pro Bowls and All-Pro teams and he’s a playmaker. A lot of interceptions when he’s healthy. The con is he has missed of his games over the last four years and he had some real weird things going on with the Packers organization.”
Caplan: “He’s only 28-years-old…Anywhere he goes in, he’s going to have the belief he’s the starter. Realistically, you are probably looking at a base salary of $7 to $10 million. Whatever you do, you give him a one-year structure.”
