ITB: Washington in Position to Build on Last Season's Success
The NFL’s cinderella story of 2024 resides in the NFC East as the biggest threat to the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense of their division title.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” legendary NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell joined Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher to preview the Washington Commanders.

Jayden Daniels
Greg Cosell: “I liked Daniels coming out [of LSU]. I thought he was a really good mix of playing in the pocket and having the ability to be a playmaker…When you take a rookie quarterback that had a lot of success, teams that they play are going to study him and they’re going to start showing a lot of different looks and movements on defense.”
Offensive Line
Cosell: “I don’t think (Laremy) Tunsil had his best year, but the guy is still high-level traits wise…If you’re talking about his traits, you’re still talking about a top three tackle in the league…(Josh) Conerly played left tackle at Oregon so they’re moving him to right tackle, and that’s a meaningful switch.”
Deebo Samuel
Cosell: “(Kliff) Kingsbury is a good offensive coordinator for Deebo. He’s a guy you can do a lot of different things with in terms of where he lines up and what you ask him to do…He can run routes from any spot, is terrific with the ball in hands.”
Javon Kinlaw
Cosell: “He’s a traits guy that hasn’t put it together. You bring in a guy that at his best is a really good defensive tackle. It’s all there in his body.”
Deatrich Wise Jr.
Cosell: “I watched him a ton in New England. This guy is a really good player, you can line him up inside and outside. He can rush the quarterback. He’s a solidifying piece”
Frankie Luvu
Cosell: “In their dime, Luvu was an edge pass rusher. You don’t want to take Luvu off the field…my guess is in an ideal world, I’m not sure they want Luvu to be an edge pass rusher.”
Mike Sainristil
Cosell: “Sainristil played really well on the outside…In an ideal world, Sainristil would be the slot.”
