‘What is Their Plan?’

ITB: Can Eagles Slow Down Micah Parsons?

by

Rivalry week has arrived for the 7-1 Philadelphia Eagles as they take on the 5-2 Dallas Cowboys in the first matchup between Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott since Week 3 of 2021.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher previewed Sunday’s matchup against the Cowboys and gave their final score predictions.

Micah Parsons

The Philadelphia Eagles will have to contain Cowboys superstar defender Micah Parsons

Cowboys Secondary

Adam Caplan: “They are a top five man coverage on the backend team, so you know that is coming. Typically, that is when a quarterback might run because the DB’s back is turned, but with Hurts not running as much because of the left knee issue and he threw well from the pocket last week, why run a lot? You can beat these guys back there.”

Micah Parsons

Geoff Mosher: “The question is what is their plan Micah Parsons? Is it making him a conflict player somehow again or is it taking the Aaron Donald approach which is just putting as many bodies as you can on him. The problem is if you put too many bodies on Parsons, they still have two or three other guys, whether it is Dorance Armstrong or Demarcus Lawrence who can capitalize on a one-on-one matchup.”

Dak Prescott

Mosher: “He is moving around a little bit and running more second reaction type plays and has been throwing the ball really well. If you take out the San Francisco game, he has had an unbelieveable season.”

Caplan: “He has had some moments earlier in the season he would like to have back, but overall, he has played solid football, way better the last two games.”

CeeDee Lamb

Mosher: “It doesn’t take you and I to realize that CeeDee Lamb, who splits time between the outside and slot, the matchup there threatens to be really bad for the Eagles. I’m sure the Cowboys know they don’t need to be as gimmicky as Washington with three step drops.”

Tony Pollard

Caplan: “Their running game has not been good. Their offense has changed from the Kellen Moore spread offense to the old school West Coast offense under Mike McCarthy and it hasn’t happened for Pollard. He is not getting the explosive plays I know he is capable of, particularly in the pass game. That is why when you look at the Dallas offense, it is not complete.”

Mosher: “It’s one thing when you are a 50-50 back with Ezekiel Elliot and you can come in and be a changeup, now you are the guy. Pollard is not a very big guy, but he is asked to be the lead high volume ball carrier and you wonder if that is the reason why the explosion isn’t there because he is being used a whole lot more than he has ever been in the past.”

Final Score Predictions

Caplan: “I have it Eagles 27, Dallas 23.”

Mosher: “I think the Cowboys are going to win this game, I think it’s going to be a little bit more high scoring. I am picking the Cowboys to win 31-23.”
