Bird Return
Report: Former Birds Exec Joe Douglas
After losing three key members of its scouting department this offseason, the Eagles add a familiar face, reportedly bringing on Joe Douglas for a “senior scouting role,” according to the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane.
Douglas, 48, most recently served as general manager for the New York Jets for the last six seasons before being relieved of his duties in November amid the team’s staggering start.

Douglas, of course, should require no introduction to Philadelphia. He held the title of vice president of player personnel for four seasons (2016-2019), fulfilling a crucial role in aiding the Eagles in building a Super Bowl championship roster in 2017.
Douglas, a Mechanicsville, Va., native has led a distinguished career in evaluating talent, holding a long-term role as a scout for the Baltimore Ravens for 15 seasons before moving on to becoming director of college scouting in 2015 for the Chicago Bears.
The reported Douglas hire occurs on the heels of losing national scout Jordon Dizon to the Denver Broncos, senior director of scouting Brandon Hunt to the Raiders and director of college scouting Anthony Patch to the Raiders.
Douglas provides a wealth of experience and proven track record of success in Philadelphia, where his skills as a talent evaluator will again be put to the test.
