Senior Bowl Standouts
Roman Wilson, Andru Phillips Raise Eyebrows At Senior Bowl
Day 2 of the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl is in the books, witb the National and American teams each having their two-hour practices at the Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of Southern Alabama.
Inside The Birds was strongly represented in Mobile, Ala., with Adam Caplan, Geoff Mosher, Clay Harbor and InsideTheBirds.com’s analytics intern Sam Finkel on hand.
Thursday is the final practice before Saturday’s game.
Here are Finkel’s standouts from each team’s practice on Day 2, starting with the National Team, which features quarterbacks Michael Penix (Washington) and Bo Nix (Oregon):
National Team Practice:
Roman Wilson (WR, Michigan WR):
Wilson moved the best in the WR individual drills and throughout the practice. He was explosive in his breaks and created decent separation. His best rep was against Quinyon Mitchell, one of the top corner prospects in Mobile.
Quinyon Mitchell (CB, Toledo):
Mitchell played well throughout the Day 2 practice. He did a good job in transition against receivers. He lost a rep to Roman Wilson but told us he’ll “see him tomorrow.”
American Team Practice
Andru Phillips (CB, Kentucky): Phillip’s physicality made him stand out. He did a good job staying in control during his 1-on-1’s, even beating Ladd McConkey (who did incredibly on Day 1).
Xavier Legette (WR, South Carolina): Legette’s route-running has been one of the best out of all players at the Senior Bowl. Legette was losing defenders and fighting off press coverage. When he breaks in his routes, he creates separation and then has the ability to make plays.
