ITB: Transaction, Injury Intel Ahead of Week 5

by

The 2023 Philadelphia Eagles are continuing to overcome major obstacles on the way to a 4-0 record.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher provided intel on the latest transactions, injuries, and more.

Sua Opeta

The Eagles will be relying on Sua Opeta as the starting right guard while Cam Jurgens recovers

Bradley Roby

Adam Caplan: “He started his career as an outside corner, majority of his career he played outside. Denver, before he left, started playing nickel. The Saints cross trained him, he was doing both then strictly inside. This had to happen.”

Geoff Mosher: “It wouldn’t surprise me if he was active, but if he plays I don’t think he would be the permanent slot corner 75%, maybe some packages to see where he is at.”

Offensive Line

Caplan: “Sua Opeta was really good in this past game and then they have Jack Driscoll who is a jack of all trades. One issue is who the hell is the backup center?”

Mosher: “Opeta has played well and they will try to test him, but he has been pretty good when he has been asked to fill in the last few years. The question is if Jason Kelce limps off, what do they do? Landon Dickerson has played center before, Julian Good-Jones is the only guy on the 69-man roster who has snapped in an NFL game, it was a preseason game.”

Cam Jurgens

Mosher: “Jurgens has had injuries to his feet before, two times at least in college. A Jones fracture, they call it.”

Caplan: “This was well known in the scouting community that he had this issue. We have no idea if this is connected to what happened in college at Nebraska. He’s out for a little bit at least.”

Justin Evans

Caplan: “Usually when you have a full practice on Friday and you are a starter, it is very rare for you not to play, even if you are listed as questionable…It’s a neck, you have to be cleared for contact too. They need him.”

Jake Elliot

Mosher: “I have had a few people ask me if Jake Elliot is getting into Justin Tucker territory. You have to do it for eight to 10 years in the biggest of biggest games. He’s not really far away from it. If you’re having a conversation about the second best kicker in the league, Elliot has to be in it.”
