ITB: Can Eagles Get Back on Track in Final Game?

by

The final game of the regular season for the Philadelphia Eagles has become a must-win for reasons beyond the standings.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher previewed the Week 18 matchup against the New York Giants and gave their final score predictions.

Tyrod Taylor

Darius Slay

Adam Caplan: “He is working each day. Here is the question: do they play 100% of the snaps? 50%? They have to get through the practice tape and see what he is like. See what the conditioning is like.”

Cordale Flott

Caplan: “If [the weather] is good enough to throw, you go after Cordale Flott, their slot corner. He is a good player, but teams will go after him”

Geoff Mosher: “You saw Julio Jones functioning from the slot last week, maybe they get Quez Watkins in, if you want to get vertical you might want him for a snap or too, but if you are trying to get your mojo back you want your most reliable players on the field. If DeVonta Smith plays and A.J. Brown can move around, maybe you can get one of those guys moved inside to take advantage of Flott.”

Wink Martindale

Mosher: “When you face Wink Martindale, you have to have your protections down, you have to know where everybody is…they don’t sack the quarterback a whole lot but they do try to confuse the quarterback. This year, Wink is doing more backend movement with this secondary. It’s a good test for the Eagles.”

Caplan: “They know this guy. They have kind of owned him, had no problem moving the football against them.”

Tyrod Taylor

Caplan: “His biggest knock from talking to people that have coached him is they love the guy but he is risk adverse. He hit the shot play against the Eagles, but this has been a problem for him where guys are wide open down the field and he hits the checkdown.”

Final Score Predictions

Caplan: “I have it 27-17, Birds. I have a feeling their offense will do well. If this defense just functions better, they are going to be okay.”

Mosher: “I had 27-16. I don’t see the Giants scoring a whole lot of touchdowns. I’m just not expecting the Eagles to get run on. At some point, everyone has to say that they know what they are doing run and need to stop that.”
