ITB: Current State of the Offense for 2026

by

The Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator search continues with question marks about that side of the ball entering 2026.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan discussed OC candidates and talked the current state of the offense.

AJ Brown

Bobby Slowik

Geoff Mosher: “When you see a guy like Bobby Slowik who interviewed for the job but stayed in Miami and is going to be their offensive coordinator…there’s no information that he was going to be offered [the Eagles’] offensive coordinator job, he just interviewed for it.”

Adam Caplan: “He was the darling of the NFL coaching CJ Stroud in his first two years…the problem with Slowik is he has never been a position coach ever and he had trouble connecting with players.”

Klayton Adams

Caplan: “The Eagles put a slip in and were denied to interview Klayton Adams…Nick Sirianni worked with him when Nick was the OC and Klayton was an assistant with him on the Colts. His background is on offensive line.”

Mosher: “If he was Dallas’ run game coordinator instead of offensive coordinator, he would be allowed to interview with the Eagles. From what I understand, that’s his specialty.”

Declan Doyle

Caplan: “There are coaches connected to him who told us over the weekend that they think he is leaning towards staying in Chicago. He’s only 29, hasn’t called plays. He needs more seasoning as someone told me.”

Mosher: “Doyle has only been an NFL position coach or coordinator for three years. He’s very young and this job right now with urgency to win and trying to coach a Super Bowl MVP quarterback and an Offensive Player of the Year running back, I feel like you’re going to need a little bit of presence.”

Tanner McKee

Caplan: “McKee is signed through this coming season only. We expect the Eagles to have people calling them. Are they going to hold it against McKee because the game that he started wasn’t great?”

Tank Bigsby

Caplan: “Part of why they made the trade is they knew he had two years left. The best possible scenario came…He looked phenomenal as a running back.”

A.J. Brown

Caplan: “Yes, they would take a cap hit if they trade him. If you trade him, you have to replace him and the good thing is the Eagles have a decent amount of draft picks.”

Mosher: “Knowing Howie (Roseman)’s reputation, I have already started looking at the receivers who were drafted in 2023 who might not get a contract extension. This is what Howie preys on.”

Tight Ends

Caplan: “From the returning roster, Cam Latu is the only one who is signed through 2026. He has found a home here. They did not use him correctly in terms of snap counts and cross blocks, but he did a really good job…I just don’t see why you wouldn’t go to (Dallas) Goedert.”

Mosher: “If they had wound up trading Goedert [in 2025], what would they have done? He had 11 touchdowns.”

Offensive Line

Mosher: “Howie did an admirable job in stockpiling what he could [in the 2025 draft], but it’s hard to say if there’s a future starter in there, someone you’d be confident to play three or four games if your starting center or guards got hurt.”

Caplan: “Where is your veteran backup?…You really need three veterans, because with (Landon) Dickerson’s injury history which is significant, (Cam) Jurgens had a tough year, you need as many quality backups as you can get. They need better answers for their backup group, it was just not good enough.”
