Window Open For Mailata
The Eagles on Monday activated left tackle Jordan Mailata into the 21-day practice window, potentially opening the door for the Pro Bowl lineman to play Thursday night’s showdown against the Commanders, with first place in the NFC East at stake.
Mailata has missed the requisite four games after being placed on Injured Reserve following the Eagles’ 20-16 win over the Browns in Week 6 in which he injured his hamstring.
Head coach Nick Sirianni on Monday hinted that Mailata could be ready for Thursday night’s game against Washington, which trails the Eagles by just a half-game for the division lead.
“We’ll see where we are by the end of the week,” Sirianni said.
Backup offensive tackle Fred Johnson has taken Mailata’s place, and the Eagles are 4-0 in those games.
The Eagles have a short turnaround before their clash against Washington and teams typically don’t have practices in those three days between games, instead conducting walkthroughs to let their bodies heal and stay fresh.
Last year, the Eagles played their Thursday night game in Week 2, a 34-28 win over the Vikings.
The Eagles are coming off a 34-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, their first road win against Dallas since the 2017 season.
