ITB: Wild Card Game Affected by Major Injuries

by

Injuries will have a major impact on the playoff matchup between the No. 5 seed Philadelphia Eagles and No. 4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher provide final injury intel ahead of the Monday night Wild Card game.

A.J. Brown

The Eagles will be missing A.J. Brown on Monday night.

A.J. Brown

Adam Caplan: “I was talking on Sunday night to one of the Eagles’ potential opponents if they win. This guy said that Brown is their man-beater. He is so hard to cover on those slants.”

Geoff Mosher: “We know that the Buccaneers are going to blitz Jalen Hurts. He is going to see guys in his face coming off the bus. Even though the Bucs lately have blitzed with a lot of zone behind them instead of man, it doesn’t matter. Once you see rushes, you need guys who can get open quickly and immediately, whether it is beating man or making that move in zone to sit down quickly.”

Avonte Maddox

Caplan: “Kevin Byard broke the news that Maddox has worked in Reed Blankenship’s place…he is a smaller guy at 5’9 but he is compact and he can move. He has much better split quickness than Blankenship. If that holds true, they would go with (Bradley) Roby as the slot corner.”

Jalen Hurts

Mosher: “The best news for the Eagles injury-wise is after a rough start with Jalen Hurts being limited on Thursday, as the week went on he was able to practice fully.”

Caplan: “The question is will he wear a glove or not? Because it is going to rain most likely.”

Darius Slay

Mosher: “Slay has not played in about a month. He is going to go up against Mike Evans…you wonder Slay’s conditioning and if he can keep up with guys like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and even Trey Palmer who has a lot of speed.”

Baker Mayfield

Caplan: “The ribs is the new injury. He hurt it in the first quarter in the last game against the Panthers. Knowing what the Eagles did against him in Week 3, they got after him. That is something to watch tonight.”
