The offseason is in full swing for the Philadelphia Eagles.

On the most recent episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher went live from the combine and provided intel on the team’s latest developments.

Haason Reddick

Adam Caplan: “Howie (Roseman) could have said ‘we want Haason here, we are going to look try to work something out.’ That’s all he had to say if he wanted Eagles fans to relax. That’s not what happened. He just talked about how he has been a great Eagle. He didn’t advance the story…We all know Haason is severely underpaid, it’s not easy to figure out what the right number is.”

Geoff Mosher: “I am sure there will be teams interested in Haason Reddick. The question is are they interested in paying him what he would like and then giving the Eagles the compensation they would want in return. You would think they would not give up Reddick for a fifth round pick.”

Mosher: “[Nick Sirianni] keeps talking about the marriage of schemes. But what he does is not what [Kellen Moore] does. Is the motion and under center getting married in?”

Caplan: “From talking to people who work with him, there is formation variation. Yes, he is heavy 11 personnel with a little bit of 10, a lot of motion and shifting. Nick has to be careful here. Moore should get autonomy with his scheme and do whatever he needs to do. Nick has to back off.”

Linebackers

Caplan: “I talked to a personnel source with various teams…he said Ben VanSumeren’s tape was fantastic. Dean is expected to start, so we can pencil him as an inside linebacker. Wouldn’t you want to expand on what VanSumeren did because he was so good? Would you not want to see him get a chance at more playing time?”

Mosher: “We know the Eagles aren’t going to break the bank, that’s not their style. They are clearly going to upgrade the position, my big thing is getting the right guys in the right spot. Nakobe Dean should be a Will, not a Mike. They need a physical guy who is going to hold up and be durable. Ben VanSumeren also fits into that Will category because of his athleticism.”

Howie may have given Reddick’s camp the incentive to initiate a good deal acceptable for the Eagles to work with. Otherwise, Howie may be planning to bring Hassan back for his final contract year; and give Nolan Smith additional playing time and to coach him up another year.
