Cunningham Returns; Slay and Smith Out Sunday
The Philadelphia Eagles will not risk the health of Darius Slay and DeVonta Smith in the final regular season game with both being ruled out of Sunday’s matchup against the New York Giants.
This will mark the first career game Smith misses after being absent from practice all week after leaving during the fourth quarter of the Arizona Cardinals game with an ankle injury.
The All-Pro cornerback Slay had returned to practice on Wednesday and Thursday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his knee prior to Week 15, but was absent Friday.
Both figure to be in-line to return for the team’s wild card matchup.
There is a new addition to the report in the form of Pro Bowl running back D’Andre Swift, who was limited in Friday’s practice with an illness and is listed as questionable for Sunday.
Among the full participants in practice linebacker Zach Cunningham (knee) who will return to the lineup after missing four of the team’s last five games, bringing improvement to a second level unit that has struggled in recent weeks.
Defensive tackle Jordan Davis (ankle), cornerback Avonte Maddox (elbow), and Haason Reddick (illness) were full-go in practice after missing time earlier in the week and carry no injury designation for Sunday.
