ITB: State of the Edge Rushers After Huff Trade
With Bryce Huff soon to come off the books, the Philadelphia Eagles’ edge rusher room continues to look radically different than 2024.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan discussed current pass rushers on the team and looked at remaining free agents.

Geoff Mosher: “As long as they don’t regress or get hurt, the Eagles are in really good hands. If one of them hits a ceiling and becomes an All-Pro or Pro Bowl type of player, watch out.”
Adam Caplan: “The cool thing is that they’re young. Smith is coming off triceps surgery. This is his first big injury as a professional, you have to see how he performs in training camp. The question is how much he’ll practice. Jalyx Hunt, you love what you saw the last quarter of the season plus playoffs.”
Josh Uche/Azeez Ojulari
Mosher: “Neither have any ground to stand on to say they should play this amount of snaps. Uche is trying to resurrect his career, he has only had one good year. The thing with Ojulari, who I have always liked, is just staying healthy. He has missed almost a third of the games due to injury.”
Caplan: “Ojulari is making excellent backup money. If Ojulari gets hurt again, they’ll go with Uche.”
Jadeveon Clowney
Mosher: “He’s 32, but he almost seems older than that. We’ve been talking about Clowney signing one-year deals with teams for eight years.”
Caplan: “He’s a length and power player. He can stand up, play with his hand in the dirt, do what BG did, has played d-tackle in nickel. He did play in Fangio’s [scheme] last season with the Panthers. He’s not a great pass rusher, never has been.”
Za’Darius Smith
Caplan: “He’s a power rusher. Most of his career was as a stand-up edge rusher for Green Bay. Can he play in Fangio and ask him drop a little bit? That’s something that they have to figure out.”
Shaquil Barrett
Mosher: “A lot of people associate him with playing for the Broncos, but he did not cross over with Fangio.”
Caplan: “He’s a standup pass rusher. I know he’s had some injuries, is older, but he definitely wants to play. That’s the word around the league.”
Von Miller
Caplan: “He has had a lot of injuries late in his career, but he showed he could still play last season. If I’m the Eagles, I would kick the tires.”
