Downgraded
Hurts Questionable; Desai Reportedly Removed From Playcalling
With a little over 24 hours before the Monday night matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, there are major unknowns about the Philadelphia Eagles team that will take the field.
One is the starting quarterback. Jalen Hurts has been officially downgraded to questionable due to an illness. Hurts missed practice on Friday but initially carried no game-day injury designation.
Hurts will travel separately from the team. If he cannot go, Marcus Mariota will be in-line to start.
The 30-year-old backup quarterback has thrown just two passes in two games after signing with the Eagles on a one-year deal in March.
Another move is coming for the Eagles, one with long-term ramifications. Senior Defensive Assistant Matt Patricia is reportedly taking over playcalling duties from Defensive Coordinator Sean Desai, as first reported by Jay Glazer and NFL on Fox and confirmed by sources for Inside The Birds.
A little @Eagles scoopage today: Philly very quietly made a change at defensive coordinator this week moving out Sean Desai to another position and replacing him with Matt Patricia. Desai remains with the team in different capacity but Patricia now runs and calls the defense…

Desai’s tenure running the defense has seemingly come to an end after just 13 games following several massive lackluster performances from a unit that is 28th in the NFL in points allowed and is allowing a league-high conversion rate of 48% on third downs.
More intel behind the move will be provided on ITB’s podcast on Monday morning.
