Birds Kicker Nabs 4-Year Extension

by

The Eagles on Monday signed another one of their core, Pro Bowl standouts to a contract extension.

The team announced a four-year deal with kicker Jake Elliott, a 2021 Pro Bowler who has emerged as one of the NFL’s best overall players at his position.

Per a source to Inside The Birds’ Adam Caplan, Elliott’s extension is worth $24 million, with $14.2 million guaranteed.

Known as “Jake The Make” for his consistency, Elliott has connected on at least 87 percent of his attempts each of the past three seasons, and more than 90 percent on two of those three.

Elliott is 18-for-22 (82%) over the past three seasons on attempts of 40 to 49 yards, and 33-for-39 (85%) on all kicks of 40 yards or longer in that span.

In 2023, Elliott made a career-best 94% of his attempts – one of his many franchise records – and made Associated Press All Pro for the first time.

He also set a team record by kicking seven field goals of 50 yards or longer. The former 2017 fifth-round pick of the Bengals has made his case to eclipse David Akers for best kicker in franchise history.

Elliott, who has a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles, is second in team history for field goals (168), and third in points (775). He has connected on all 16 of his postseason attempts.

Elliott is the fourth in-house standout to agree to an extension this week, following in the footsteps of Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson, who on Monday agreed to a four-year deal that makes Dickerson the highest-paid guard in NFL history, along with punter Braden Mann and long snapper Rick Lovato, who signed a one-year deal.

The extensions for Elliott, Mann and Lovata ensure the Eagles’ top three specialists return are under contract.
