Desai departs Seattle after spending one season as the team’s associate head coach and defensive assistant.
The 39-year-old was previously defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2021 after working his way up through the organization after starting as a defensive quality control coach in 2013 before serving as safeties coach from 2019-20.
For the Philadelphia Eagles, they have now found their replacement for Jonathan Gannon and are expected to stick with a similar defensive scheme. Desai gets the job after conducting two interviews with the team.
Desai is considered a Vic Fangio disciple, serving as his quality control coach with the Chicago Bears from 2015-18. He was brought to Seattle in 2022 to help implement a Fangio style-scheme.
Fangio’s defenses based around a five-man front with two deep safeties in the secondary, a prominent defensive look by the Eagles during Gannon’s two-year run.
