The 28-year-old Allen lives a double life as an NFL hopeful and a worldwide track star, but a recent calf injury had put both on pause.
Now, Allen returns to the Birds, having no time to waste with 11 other wideouts on the active roster, most of who are competing for that fifth receiver job.
The team recently waived Charleston Rambo, making one less receiver in Allen’s way.
Speed is the name of the game for the former Oregon Duck, and it could be where he separates himself from the rest of the competition with the Eagles lacking an elite kickoff returner, Allen’s specialty.
Allen joined the Eagles in the 2022 offseason after being out of football since his college days ended in 2016. One catch for a 55-yard touchdown in the preseason was not enough to keep him on the 53, but he spent the entire year on the practice squad.
