Birds LB Carted Off Field
Camp Update: Knee Injury Sidelines Patrick Johnson
Patrick Johnson, an Eagles third-year on-ball linebacker, was carted off the field Friday at the NovaCare Complex after apparently suffering a leg injury.
Reporters observed Johnson leave the field on a stretcher after apparently hurting his left leg.
Edge rusher Patrick Johnson suffered what looked like a left ankle injury at practice and was carted off the field. Had to be helped off the cart to walk into the facility.
Pat’s been having a very good camp.

A source told The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane that the injury isn’t considered serious.

Johnson joined linebacker Nakobe Dean (ankle), wide receiver Deon Cain, and cornerback James Bradberry (groin) as injured Eagles out of practice.
Defensive end Derek Barnett (knee), outside linebacker Haason Reddick (groin) and cornerback Avonte Maddox (toe) were all limited.
The Eagles practiced Thursday and Friday, the first time since camp opened that they practiced on consecutive days.
Johnson, a 2021 seventh-round pick out of Tulane, had generally seen snaps on the second team. In his two years with the Eagles, Johnson has mostly played special teams and occasionally filled in as an outside linebacker, backing up the edge rushers.
Last year, Johnson played 21% of defensive snaps and 74% percent of special teams, both up from his rookie year totals.
The 6-foot-2, 258-pound linebacker has a good chance to make the 53 again because of his versatility and special teams acumen but an extended time off the field would give more opportunities to second-year linebacker Kyron Johnson and other edge defenders, such as Janarius Robinson and Tarron Jackson.
