Birds Also Add Squad OL, TE

PHILADELPHIA The Eagles on Wednesday made a flurry of roster moves as they prepare for a busy week ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship, most notably activating the 21-day practice window for wide receiver/punt returner Britain Covey.

The team also inked tight end Nick Muse and offensive lineman Cameron Erving to the practice squad while releasing defensive end K.J. Henry in a corresponding move.

GETTY IMAGES: Eagles PR Britain Covey (neck) was placed in the 21-day practice window and could be activated for Sunday’s NFC title game.

Covey, 27, was placed on Injured Reserve on Dec. 27 because of a lingering neck injury. The third-year pro appeared in five games, reeling in seven receptions for 34 yards and adding another 46 on six punt returns.

If Covey can be activated to play against the Commanders, his presence would aid the return game while also preserving rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean, a mainstay on defense.

Covey has been exceptional when it comes to gaining hidden yards, and in the postseason there’s little margin for error.

Muse (6-5, 252), 26, was a seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2022, appearing in 16 games. He logged one reception for 22 yards across 19 career snaps.

He began his college career at William & Mary before transferring to South Carolina, where he crossed paths with current Eagles tight end E.J. Jenkins.

Erving, 32, was a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2015, appearing in 98 games (58 starts) over nine seasons. The versatile lineman has spent time with the Browns, Chiefs, Cowboys, Panthers and Saints.

This season, Erving spent time on the Texans and 49ers practice squads, respectively.
