Questions and Concerns: Offense
ITB: Are the Eagles Set at Depth at RB, Other Positions?
The Philadelphia Eagles offense is one that is expected to remain of the best in the league, but still has questions ahead of the start of training camp.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan looked at the biggest issues facing the offense at the beginning of camp.

AJ Dillon
Geoff Mosher: “Is he going to be ready and is he going to be the AJ Dillon of a couple of years ago, who was a very good complimentary back with the Packers? Or are the Eagles going to be needing some reinforcements?”
Adam Caplan: “He’s here as insurance policy. If (Saquon) Barkley can’t play and they want to grind carries, he’s going to be the guy.”
Will Shipley
Mosher: “That Kenneth Gainwell role third down back, Will Shipley has the closest skillset to be able to do, but he has to get stronger, has to show the work he has put in on pass protection and blitz pickup this summer has been good. I actually think he can expand the role because he’s more explosive and help you open up the passing offense by catching it a little more, turning upfield, maybe some screens, and maybe taking more carries to give Saquon a breather.”
Caplan: “He’s more of a changeup, juice, three-to-five carries a game…the issue is third down.”
Right Guard
Mosher: “What do the Eagles do if Tyler Steen just isn’t the guy that they want and need him to be? I think that there’s an assumption that if he’s not going to be the guy, Kenyon Green will be. But Kenyon Green has not played good football in several years and has had a bad injury. There is a scenario where neither of those guys is the guy Jeff Stoutland thinks he can rely on at right guard and then you’re talking about Matt Pryor and you’re not sure there too. I feel like someone will emerge but I can’t sit here and say of all three definitely someone will go in there and everything will be perfect.”
Caplan: “What if Tyler Steen totally flops at right guard? How long will they wait to see if Steen is the guy? You have to give him two weeks…if Steen is rotating with Matt Pryor, that’s a bad sign.”
