ITB: Very Early Training Camp Observations

by

The first practice of training camp offered a small hint of the roles for several Philadelphia Eagles players.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan provided intel from day one.

Cooper DeJean

Adam Caplan: “The Eagles think he can come back by the three week mark, but it is a hamstring injury. That means he misses most, if not all, of training camp.”

Jalen Hurts

Caplan: “Our intel is that his crisp timing is better. He processed better…He looked really healthy, fluid.”

Offensive Line

Geoff Mosher: “Because of (Landon) Dickerson being out, they have been able to get a look at Mekhi Becton at guard more than they were anticipating.”

Caplan: “Just to show you that maybe this Becton at guard stuff is real: they could have put Max Scharping at left guard for the first team, but they didn’t.”

Moro Ojomo

Mosher: “Ojomo did run with the second team on the first day. As camp goes on and they start to figure out their four-man rush lines, I am interested to see if he gets a few opportunities in there. That is really his thing: having that upfield bust that three techniques give you.”

Linebackers

Caplan: “They rotated in and out. (Devin) White was the Mike and (Zack) Baun was the Will, then (Nakobe) Dean came in with the second team, Baun stayed in. It is way too early to call.”

Quinyon Mitchell

Caplan: “Right now, (Isaiah) Rodgers is starting, but if Mitchell is ready to play, he is starting. At some point, he is going to work with the ones. I don’t think we are going to know for sure until mid-August.”

Mosher: “Mitchell did play a little inside situationally in specific matchups. He is a rookie so you are trying to see what you can do in certain situations.”
