Room for a Role?

ITB: State of Training Camp Competitions

by

The picture of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 1 53-man roster is becoming clearer by the day throughout training camp.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan gave intel and updates on the team’s positional battles.

Tyler Steen

Geoff Mosher: “It’s not even a secret that Tyler Steen is the right guard. He has been the first team right guard, there’s no injuries, he’s not losing it, there’s nobody pushing him.”

Moro Ojomo

Adam Caplan: “He’s super slippery. He just has a way because he is long. He’s lining over (Tyler) Steen quite a bit. You have to get him before he gets you, he has that great first step.”

AJ Dillon

Mosher: “We’re far enough along now where we can at least be pleased with AJ Dillon’s practices. He has been fine, they’re giving him the ball, I’m seeing him run. He looks like he has some good juice for a guy his size.”

Tight Ends

Mosher: “If the Eagles had to make their 53 right now, knowing what you can do on the practice, I’m not sure anybody at tight end other than (Dallas) Goedert and (Grant) Calcaterra make it.

Josh Uche

Caplan: “(Azeez) Ojulari, technically got the first snap, but Uche got more snaps with the ones than Ojulari on Sunday. Typically over the last three or four practices, it seems like Uche is ahead of Ojulari.”

Mosher: “As we sit here today, outside of a little Uche flashes here and there, I just haven’t seen a whole lot of edge rush as a group, as a unit, as an individual.”

Cornerback

Mosher: “This [competition] is definitely more of a 50-50 than last year, where it was over.”

Caplan: “(Adoree) Jackson has taken more [first team reps] than (Kelee) Ringo, but it’s even. They’re not going to know yet. If someone doesn’t emerge to be the guy, we’re going to start looking at that free agent list and potential for trade.”
