ITB: Matchups To Determine Week 3's Winner
The 2-0 Philadelphia Eagles are headed to Tampa to take on a surprisingly 2-0 Buccaneers team on a Monday night primetime game.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher discussed the latest injury news and detailed the key matchups for Week 3.
Mario Goodrich
Adam Caplan: “Goodrich took a majority of the slot snaps [against the Vikings], had mixed results to be kind. He had some good snaps. He hasn’t been a starting nickel so he hasn’t been in there in the regular season, so this was a tough task for him.”
James Bradberry
Caplan: “Bradberry was working on Thursday, that is great. If a player is in the concussion protocol but is not working, that means he has not progressed at all. If you don’t see a guy the first day back, that is really not good. The fact that Bradberry was working on Thursday, that means he is progressing through the protocol, that doesn’t mean he is out of it though.”
Trey Palmer
Caplan: “Russell Gage is out for most of the season…Palmer is going to play a lot. I talked to a receivers coach who said that on tape, he graded him as the third most explosive receiver of the draft, but he said Palmer had two issues: hands and route running.”
Geoff Mosher: “The Buccaneers play a lot of 12 and 13 personnel anyway, but you do wonder will they feel with the Eagles’ issues in the slot, would you want Godwin back in there [the slot] and use Trey as a deep threat, clearout guy on the outside. You give yourself a better mismatch.”
Buccaneers D-Line
Mosher: “The Buccaneers do a lot of stuff up front and they have a ton of really good pocket pushers and pass rushers. It starts with Vita Vea in the middle…We know Todd Bowles likes to make those bear fronts, cover the gaps, and make your linemen block one-on-one.”
Buccaneers O-Line
Caplan: “They had five offensive line changes. Luke Goedeke used to be a guard, he is now their right tackle, Cody Mauch is a rookie at right guard, Robert Hainsey takes over for Ryan Jensen at center, Matt Feiler comes from the Chargers and is a grinding tough guy who is playing left guard here and Tristian Wirfs moved from the right side to the left field. The Eagles are going to eat here, the best d-line in football…the blocking so far has been good, but they haven’t faced a team like this.”
