On the Offense Bubble

In the coming months, the Philadelphia Eagles will have several tough decisions to make about the depth of the roster.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher discussed the pros and cons of offensive players on the roster bubble.

Cole Payton

Adam Caplan: “He has major issues with his throwing mechanics. There’s talent there, he’s an athlete, he’s built well, but he needs major breakdown. Parks Frazier is going to be charged with it…Weird throwing motion, it’s (Tim) Tebow-esque.”

Geoff Mosher: “He could look terrible, fall on his face, not hit the broad side of a barn for two weeks, but he’s way likely to make the team regardless of that because of the athleticism, the fact that they used a fifth-round pick on him, they know he’s a project.”

Dameon Pierce

Mosher: “A guy who is not laterally quick and they’re going to do a lot of wide zone. He’s a run-it-up the gut type of running back and he honestly haven’t been that great.”

Caplan: “When he started struggling, I talked to someone with the Texans when they moved to zone under Bobby Slowik, he just did not fit…He has an opening day roster bonus if he’s on the 53-man roster, not only that, he has to be active on the gameday roster.”

Elijah Moore

Caplan: “Elijah Moore was so good early in his career then he couldn’t deal with playing with Zach Wilson…He’s now on his fifth team and he just turned 26.”

Grant Calcaterra

Caplan: “It’s a very cuttable contract. They guaranteed just over $700,000. That’s not a lot of money…He’s on a prove-it deal to me.”

Myles Hinton

Caplan: “He’s playing a power position inside. They cross-trained him at guard. The big knock on him from a scouting standpoint from what we were told was too finesse.”

Cameron Williams

Caplan: “This guy did very well against Washington. The original plan was he wouldn’t play last season.”

Mosher: “There’s a lot of cooks in that kitchen [of backup offensive tackles.] Eventually, some have to be the top two or three chefs.”
