‘A Little Rusty’
Q&A: Where the Eagles and Packers Stand Ahead of Wild Card
The No. 2 seeded Philadelphia Eagles are set to host the No. 7 Green Bay Packers with both teams nursing quarterback injuries.
On the latest episode of “Q&A” on “Inside The Birds,” former Eagles standouts Jason Avant and Quintin Mikell previewed the Wild Card matchup.
Jake Elliott
Quintin Mikell: “Huge concern, because it doesn’t seem like it’s getting better. Usually, a guy that’s in a tailspin, you start to see a turn the corner, but he doesn’t even look confident in his face.”
Christian Watson
Mikell: “Not having Christian Watson is huge. The year before last, he absolutely killed this team.”
Green Bay Packers
Mikell: “When Jordan Love is 100% healthy, he is a phenomenal quarterback. (Matt) LaFleur is one of the best young coaches in the league, offensive line is good, I love their scheme on offense.”
Jason Avant: “The Packers have a bunch of guys offensively that they get the ball to. Jordan Love, the one thing he does really well is spread the ball around. Jayden Reed: 857 yards receiving. Tucker Kraft, their tight end: 700 yards receiving, Romeo Doubs: 600, Josh Jacobs: 350. He spreads the ball out, sees the field. If he’s hot, he can play as good as anybody in the league.”
Jalen Hurts
Mikell: “I am a little rusty of him going three or four weeks without taking a snap, only because it is the playoffs and there is so much that speeds up. The schemes change up ever so slightly. There’s just so much on the line and it’s such a finite situation.”
Avant: “Can a rusty Jalen Hurts, along with the offensive line, Saquon Barkley, and a good defense still be good enough to beat the Packers? I think so. We haven’t seen stellar quarterback play this entire year, we have seen good, efficient passing at time. As long as Jalen isn’t turning the ball over, I think the Eagles win this game.”
