New Needs
ITB: Positional Needs Ahead of 2024 Draft
There is more work to be done on the defensive side of the ball for the Philadelphia Eagles.
On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher discussed the current state of the defense and where the team should be looking in the upcoming NFL draft.
Reed Blankenship
Geoff Mosher: “The bottom line is it is a smart idea to get one more year on him, especially with how thin they are at the position right now.”
Adam Caplan: “They look at this position which is barren right now and they know this player. They nailed his signing as an undrafted free agent…the money is not prohibitive to where they couldn’t draft a safety as early as the second round.”
Brandon Graham
Mosher: “When you have Brandon Graham as your number four on your totem pole of pass rushers compared to every other team’s number four, it is probably pretty good. He doesn’t play as many snaps as he used to, but even if he is playing 15 snaps, he probably gives you really good production.”
Caplan: “Two years ago he was phenomenal with 11 sacks. Last year, he just dropped off like everybody did. He played fewer snaps, production was way down.”
Cornerback
Caplan: “Corner is such a need. You don’t want to lead the NFL in oldest corner tandem in a time where they are clearly trying to get younger.”
Mosher: “They have tried to piecemeal it in the past with veterans…they never draft and develop.”
Caplan: “It would really be nice for them if they could add two outside corners. (Eli) Ricks is a good story but they don’t see him as a future starter, he is a quality backup. Kelee Ringo is a fourth outside corner. He did some decent things, but there was some stiffness with them.”
