‘Don’t Think They’re Done’

ITB: Eagles Filling Out 53 and Practice Squad

by

The Philadelphia Eagles have been busy making moves after Tuesday’s cutdown deadline.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds.” Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher gave intel on the latest signings to the 53-man roster and practice squad.

Willie Lampkin

Adam Caplan: “Most teams like size, the Eagles really like size on the offensive line, but he’s technically shorter than six feet. The question for me would be he was waived/injured, so he has to pass the physical to be able to be on the 53-man roster…He has knee and ankle issues, but from my understanding it wasn’t going to be long term. I don’t think they’re done at guard/center.”

Geoff Mosher: “It feels like this is probably a guy they may have liked and just didn’t get a chance to draft and then when he became available they brought him. I have seen a little bit of footage from him from the preseason against the Cowboys before he got hurt where he had some pretty good blocks. He plays with great leverage, apparently he was a wrestler in high school.”

Cameron Latu

Mosher: “So many of those fringe tight ends and Cameron Latu is the one they decided to bring back to the practice squad.”

Caplan: “You need to have at least six on your 69-man roster and the Eagles have seven, so they’re good there.”

Hollin Pierce

Caplan: “He’s a left tackle who also moved over to guard in training camp. He just has to get in better physical shape, but you can’t teach size.”

Mosher: “I paid attention to him [in camp] and I thought he had some decent reps at times. This thing can maybe work out for them, start off as a backup. Even if his footwork wasn’t great, I think there’s something there with this kid.”

Chance Campbell

Mosher: “The guy we thought they signed just to play in the [last preseason] game had some familiarity and played for Bobby King before, he makes it on to the practice squad. That makes sense because they needed a linebacker but they went with him over the guy that was in camp with him in Lance Dixon.”

Caplan: “Campbell is a height, weight, speed player, significant injury history, he just could not stay healthy. He was a drafted player for the Titans. Big-time athleticism. He had a very good chance to start [for the Titans].”

Antwaun Powell-Ryland

Caplan: “I’m a little surprised Powell-Ryland wasn’t claimed because he is an edge rusher. I know his tape wasn’t great from the preseason, did next to nothing in training camp, but it shows your tape is way more than numbers.”
