Room for Improvement

ITB: Is an Improved Offense On the Way?

by

The Philadelphia Eagles’ offense has been less than impressive through the first two games, but the upcoming matchup against the Los Angeles Rams provides an opportunity for improvement.

On the latest episode of “Inside The Birds,” Geoff Mosher and Adam Caplan provided intel on injuries and the current state of the offense.

Offense

Geoff Mosher: “It doesn’t matter who the coordinator has been, the offensive concepts and design has generally been the same.”

Adam Caplan: “I charted the game. They ran the ball on 1st down over 80% of the time. That can’t happen.”

Mosher: “They know they have to get better.”

Dallas Goedert

Mosher: “What matters most is the response to Wednesday’s practice. Does he get back to practice on Thursday? Even if he’s limited, that’s not a step back. If he’s full, that’s a great step forward.”

Caplan: “Goedert didn’t do anything last week. He worked some on Wednesday. They have to see how he responds to it.”

Mosher: “One reason I would be more optimistic that he is going to be alright and do well is he has a knee injury, they were inside, and he practiced in a limited fashion. They were inside because of the rain. That surface is murderous on knees, so he must have felt confident to do limited work there.”

Jalen Carter

Mosher: “The biggest issue is you could tell, and Vic (Fangio) said it too, that he is not at peak condition yet.”

Caplan: “It’s not the first time he has talked about Carter’s weight. Now, understand that Jalen Carter has had problems with one of his shoulders since college. The shoulder is listed [on the injury report], so we have to keep an eye on that.”

Jalen Hurts

Caplan: “Going after the secondary doesn’t mean you have to throw 40 times, but you have to go after [the Rams]. I’m going to put it out there now: Hurts is going off this game.”
